How do I know my Breast Size?

At Capri, we always take the time to measure people perfectly and educate them at the same time.

We use a measuring tape as a starting point measuring under the rib cage and over the bust area.  This gives us an idea of the back size and cup size.  However, a measuring tape can only tell us so much.  We take into account where your breast tissue lays on your chest wall.  Some people have breast tissue that begins lower on the torso while others have breast tissue that sits higher up the torso.  If you have had significant weight loss, then you may have lost breast density and certain bras such as plunges may not be the correct shape for you.  People who have a lot of breast tissue higher up the neck area may find that moulded cups are not ideal as the breast tissue will spill over the front causing a double breast.  We may also take into account whether you can manage to do the bra up yourself.  If you struggle to do it up, we may suggest doing it up at the front and swinging it around to the back or perhaps going up a back size.

We always recommend a tight fit as 90% of the breast support comes from a tight band.  When we choose 'comfort' over a tight band, we take away 90% of the support (and lift).  Going up a band also causes gathering in the cup and the band rises up at the back.  This can result in rubbing and bra wires digging in.

At Capri, we are trained in the French fit.  We try and get as much breast tissue into the cup as possible so we may teach you to do the scoop in your bra.

Knowing how to measure your bra size should never be a secret.  We are here to help at any time so feel free to ask as many questions as possible.  We also offer free measuring here so please do not hesitate to come in so we can give you an idea of what bra you should be buying whether you decide to shop with us or not.
