What do I need a breast prosthesis for?
People wear breast forms for a variety of reasons. Perhaps, you were born with uneven breast sizes? Perhaps, you have had surgery and your breasts are uneven? Perhaps, you have had a mastectomy? Whatever the reason, we are able to help you with the best prosthesis to suit your needs.
How do I wear a breast prosthesis?
We sell a variety of breast forms at Capri. We have ones that can be put into a pocket in your swimwear. We have adhesive ones that can stick to the skin allowing you to wear off the shoulder gowns. We have everyday ones, exercise ones as well as ones that can pump up to allow for different sizes within the breast.
How do the fittings work?
We encourage you to give us a call on 03 6331 9826 to book your fitting. Once you arrive, your friendly trained corsetier will take you into a fitting room. We have dressing gowns available for you to make yourself comfortable in. Usually, a herbal tea is offered to relax you. We take your measurements and try a range of bras that you find comfortable. From there, we work out the best sized prosthesis for you. Our tape measures come in handy as we endeavour to get the exact proportional size.
Are the prosthetics worth it?
We are qualified corsetiers having trained in prosthetics interstate. We discuss with you what prosthetic you may need. If you exercise a lot, then perhaps the Amoena Energy may be the best breast form for you. Maybe, you have an uneven breast and want to add a shaper into a particular area to even it out? While some people are happy with their breasts just the way they are, we understand that some people find that they gain more confidence from being symetrical.
Can Medicare help me out?
At the end of your fitting, we show you how to take care of your breast form. We also provide you with medicare forms that you may fill out and either post, email or take to a service centre. If you need assistance with this, we are able to help you. Sometimes, depending on your level of cover, there are allowances to have a breast prosthesis bra reimbursed with your private health. Please speak with your health insurance provider to determine the level of cover needed.
How often do I need a breast form?
Medicare allows you to have a breast form every 2 years. If you have had a double mastectomy, the allowance are 2 breast forms. If you would like us to remind you when you are due, please let us know at the time of your fitting. Depending on the condition of your breast form, you may choose for this time to get a different kind of breast form such as an Aqua Wave for swimming.
